Also known as the 'Knicks' GL3, the Ronnie Fieg x ASICS Gel-Lyte III 'New York City' was released in early May, 2013 for a retail price of $145. By choosing a perforated pigskin suede toe box and nubuck overlays, Fieg created a GEL Lyte II that could be worn both during the harsh winter months of the Knicks season but also through the spring and summer while the basketball season winds-down. Inspired by his home-city, the Knicks GEL Lyte 3 have since grown in popularity, especially amongst those in the New York area who wear the shoes as not only a status of sneaker enthusiasm, sports-interest, and fashion, but also a badge of respect to their hometown. Released alongside the 'Miami Beach' GEL-Lyte III as part of the East Coast Project, the Knicks GL3 was also dropped alongside a slew of apparel and accessories to complete the pop-up experience that embodied how far Ronnie and his team at Kith had come.
